A good nights sleep ?
by Jenny PetersDo you always get a good nights sleep ?
If you are not waking up refreshed in the morning and with enough energy to last you all day, then perhaps you should consider improving your sleep habits.
Whilst with today's fast paced lifestyles, getting a good nights sleep maybe somewhere towards the bottom of your priorities, continued nights of reduced sleep will take their toll. Trying to make up sleep loss, say at the weekends can actually go further to disrupting your natural sleep patterns.
So how can you get a good nights sleep?
Most adults require between seven and a half and eight and a half hours sleep a night. A sure sign that you are not getting enough sleep, or that the sleep you do get is being disrupted, is if you find you are repeatedly pressing the snooze button on your alarm clock. It is far better to awake at the natural point in your sleep cycle, because you are properly refreshed after a good nights sleep, than to have your alarm jolt you awake.
Trying to keep regular hours will help re-establish your body patterns; go to bed at the same time each night, but also get up at the same time. If you can awake to bright light this can help reset your internal rhythms.
