An Introduction to your New Memory Foam Mattress

by Simon Murray

So what can you expect from your memory foam mattress?

Your mattress will soften under the heat and weight of your body, and will soften and mould itself to your individual contours.

This means that your memory foam mattress will provide exceptional support and pressure relief for your neck, back, shoulders and legs.

The mattress material, technically known as Visco Elastic Memory Foam, is made of heat sensitive spherical cells, which get softer when heat is applied. This means that the cells closest to your body heat deform more, so providing the cushioning effect so unique to the memory foam mattress. Once you get up, the material cools and your bed will return to its original shape.

You will find that the bed is harder in a cooler room and that it will soften generally as the air temperature rises. It is also easier for the foam to mould itself around you when the room is warmer, and for first time users, turning the heat up will help making the adjustment from a traditional bed to your new memory foam mattress.

Other plus points to note are that memory foam is fully breathable and there is no need to turn a memory foam mattress as you have to with traditional beds.
